This morning I was roaming the internet landscape. It still amazes me we have all the knowledge, opinions, mis-information, spiritual highlights, himan depravity, and anything else we want at our fingertips when we sit down at a keyboard before our monitor.
A 3-sided, 10-foot-tall, 200 pound monolith was discovered in California recently. This was not the opening scene in 2001 movie. The tall silver metallic structure showed up at an Atascadero Park in Central California. It was removed quickly because of safety concerns.
The appearance provided mystery to a recent trend. A month ago another monolith was spotted in southern Utah's red-rock country. This was followed by the discovery of another monolith in Romania. What is going on? Will we ever know? It's almost like a chapter of Where's Waldo? If you don't know the book, it's filled with pictures of people and landscapes. The job is to find Waldo.
Meanwhile an Oak Hill couple went out shopping. They arrived home from shopping and discovered a thief in their home. How did they find him? The husbamd told a joke to his wife and they heard a laugh from upstairs. They quietly called the police. When they arrived the police went upstairs and arrested the man. It must have been a really good joke!
So as you can see, the quirky situations still occur often. Years ago (prior to me beloved Rachel) the girl I was dating and I were going to stop and get a bite to eat. As we started to pull in to the parking lot, we noticed a disheveled woman in a t-shirt and shorts. But that is not what we noticed. It was the fact she was carrying and waving around a 3-foot long machete. Needless to say, we pulled back out and called in a report. In the end, we never heard anything about thw situation. As we drove to another restaurant that morning, we prayed for a peaceful resolution to the situation.
The world is a strange and sometimes surreal place. Once I was shopping in my grocery store. I watched as a woman I had seen shopping bypassed the checkout line and headed out the door with a cart of groceries. Just as she got to the door, a member of the staff came up to her and said ever so politely, "Maa'm, I believe you forgot to pay for your groceries. Could you come to the checkout line?" She looked at him and said something to the effect - "These are my groceries because they belong to me!" He just stood there and she smiled and walked out the door. She climbed into a waiting new Mercedes parked in the handicap parking space ( the car had no placard) and off they drove. I was standing nearby and commented about doing that in the middle of the day. He commented she was a regular that tried to sneak out about once a month. He continued that the strange thing was that they had money but they liked to 'take it to the corporation.'
This week will provide you with a precious and surreal set of moments. It will be just for you. Recognize it and even though it may not make any sense it will be a part of your spiritual growth............
