The world is a softer in December. There is of course the sense of urgency in everyone. We are all behind in our obligations and duties for our families, friends, and it seems like countless other people we've never met.
If the last year has taught me anything, it is the following. I want to connect and talk to you. I want to know how you are doing in this magic stage play we are living. I want to know in some way if I can support you in being you - which is the most sacred thing ever.
I really don't care if I find the absolutely perfect gift for you. In our zany world, we have had crazy 'must have gifts' like 'Tickle Me Elmo' or a pet rock. What?
This Christmas season I really challenge you to renew an old connection. Make a phone call to someone that might start uncomfortable. This is a part of this coming to the end of life with no regrets. It would be interesting to make a list of what you would list as your regrets. First of all, what could you take off the regret list with simple actions. Next what regrets on the list might not even be regrets when you look closer. Change the list!
The one truth my health challenges have taught me is that truly we are all the same. We will come to the point when we realize (as we take our last breath) it is time to go. All of us will have a common theme. It is "wait a minute, I have more to do!"
So in the end it comes down to things we don't like. It is our one shot at life. We are human se we take part of our life journey and it feels like we waste it. We really do. We waste i on addictions, relationships, deadlines, on countless things that don't mean anything in the end.
Meanwhile God keeps providing us with miracles over and over again. If we are lucky, we slow down enough or are spiritual enough to recognize the miracle.
I love to read and I am in the midst of a series based in Key West. The locals are called Conchs, Each evening as the sun goes down the locals gather at locations where the sunset is spectacular. They wait the possibility of seeing a green flash just before the sun sinks into the sea. It is a rare phenomena of light refraction but they gather every night just in case it occurs.
So change your regrets to your own personal green flash. It's just waiting to happen but you must take action. Start now! Make a phone call of send a note! Happy living............
